Appalachian Ski Mountain

Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in 1962 as the High Country’s first ski area and since, Appalachian Ski Mtn has developed a reputation as one of the best ski areas in the Southeast. Appalachian Ski Mountain offers state-of-the-art terrain features, constantly changing graphics and rail and box sets. Along with the most concentrated snowmaking per acre in the Southeast, Appalachian Ski Mountain is a progressive resort with a family friendly vibe.

The French-Swiss Ski College operates the Ski School at Appalachian Ski Mountain. Classes are available for all ages and ability levels, and skiers may choose between a group lesson or private instruction. French-Swiss also offers a program specially designed to instruct children ages 4 to 12. Along with an excellent ski school, the Appalachian Ski Patrol has won national awards for its service.

The slopes at Appalachian Ski Mountain are usually groomed twice a day and the short lines assure a day full of skiing. With two terrain parks featuring 30 unique rails, boxes, jumps and jibs, Appal Jam Terrain Park and Appaljack Terrain Park are the most innovative in the region.

In addition, Appalachian Ski Mtn has an outdoor ice arena with refrigerated ice floor. The ice arena is open seven days a week and is fully lighted to create a wonderful ambiance for skating under the stars. Skaters and non-skaters can watch the action on the rink or warm up by the rink-side bonfire. Choose from traditional or hockey skates.
