Banner Elk Winery
Set amongst one of the
most lovely spots in the
High Country and a
gorgeous 25 year old
blueberry farm, the
Banner Elk Winery is the
area's first commercial
winery and an exquisite
place to tour. One would
not normally associate
our Blue Ridge climate
with delicious tasting
wines and ever producing
vineyards, however, the
harsh winters of the
High Country produce
hearty fruits that burst
with flavor. Since its
beginning, the Banner
Elk Winery has provided
educational guidance to
local farmers and others
in the region using the new
French-American and
American varieties of
grapes. Put simply, the
Banner Elk Winery began
the age old tradition of
winemaking here in the
High Country.
 Offering wine
for sale, wine
tasting and educational
tours, the Banner Elk
Winery has received
numerous recognitions
and has built a superior
reputation for
winemaking in the
southeast. Vintner Dr.
Dick Wolfe uses fresh
blueberries from the
winery's 20 acre working
blueberry farm to create
delicious blueberry wine
and blueberry ports.
Alongside the plump
blueberries are several
large grape varieties
from which Dr. Wolfe
creates Sevval Blanc,
Chardonnay, Banner Elk
white, Nouveau
Francesco, Banner Elk
Red, and a celebrated
Cabernet Sauvignon, that
has the distinction of
winning the Double Gold
Medal during the North
Carolina State Fair.

Wednesday through Sunday
from noon to 6 p.m.
Visit the Banner Elk
Winery each Friday Night
from 5-8 p.m. to enjoy
wine by the glass or by
the bottle with
complimentary hors
d'oeuvres. During the
colder months and crisp
fall Friday evenings,
guests can sit by the
fireplace inside or
roast marshmallows and
celebrate by the
fire pit.
