Horn in the West

Horn in the West is an
Outdoor Drama in
Boone NC and is the
nation's oldest
Revolutionary War drama.
Horn in the West depicts the
lives of early Western
North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee
settlers. This Boone
Outdoor Drama covers a
time period during the
American Revolution,
around the 1770s, and
the story follows the
family of Dr. Geoffrey
Stuart. Dr. Stuart is a
British loyalist who is
sent to the Colony of
Carolina to study
smallpox. Dr. Stuart,
his wife and their son
Jack relocate to the
Blue Ridge Mountain town
inhabited by colonists
who settled there for freedom
from British tyranny.
Dr. Stuart's son takes
up arms with a band of
colonists called the
Regulators during the
Battle of Alamance. The
British authorities
capture the rebels,
along with Jack Stuart,
and Dr. Stuart is left
trying to save his
British name. Through a
tale of hardship,
friendship, danger,
romance and hope, the
Stuart family becomes
entwined in the
community and
eventually, Dr. Stuart
becomes the leader of
the diverse mountain
community. Will he join
the colonist charge
south to the Battle of
King's Mountain?
Daniel Boone leads Dr.
Stuart through the
mountain country. Daniel
Boone symbolizes the
hearty mountain settlers
struggle to find freedom
and importance during
the War for
Independence. The Horn
in the West drama,
sometimes called the
Legend of Daniel Boone
Outdoor Drama begins
mid-June and ends in
mid-August. Horn in the
West will commence its
58th consecutive season
in 2009.
