Linville Falls

Linville Falls is
located on the Blue
Ridge Parkway at
milepost 316 where US
221 and NC 181 intersect
the Parkway. Located at
the northern end of
Linville Gorge, Linville
Falls cascades 90 feet
in multiple
interval
cap-falls. Three trails
lead to views of
Linville Falls, all are
accessed from the
Linville Falls Visitor
Center, and they range in
difficulty.
Linville Falls trail is
the most popular trail
and leads to a view of
upper Linville Falls at
the first overlook, .5
miles from the parking
area. Erwin’s View trail
continues past Linville
Falls and leads to 3
overlooks, Chimney View
overlook at .7 miles,
Gorge View Overlook and
Erwin's View Overlook at
.8 miles.
Trails to lower Linville
Falls and Linville Gorge
fork to the right from
the Linville Falls Trail
.2 miles from the
parking lot. Plunge
Basin Trail is a .5 mile
trail that leads to a
view of lower Linville
Falls. Lastly, the 0.7
mile Linville Gorge
Trail branches off of
Plunge Basin Trail and
leads to the foot of
lower Linville Falls.
Swimming is prohibited
at all areas of Linville
Falls.
