Valle Crucis
 Historic Valle Crucis is
located in Western North
Carolina near the
Avery and Watauga County
lines. Settled in a
beautifully preserved
valley, Valle Crucis is
one of the most
picturesque towns in all
of the Blue Ridge
Mountains. Known for
being one of Western
North Carolina’s most
beautiful locations,
Valle Crucis is a
popular spot for
horseback riding,
fishing, and most of
all, relaxing. Set
against a backdrop of
endless
panoramas, Valle Crucis
was established where
two creeks and the
Watauga River meet,
forming a perfect St.
Andrew’s cross. It
became collectively
known as the “Vale of
the Cross” during its
time as an Episcopalian
settlement and was later
shortened to Valle Crucis as the area grew.
