Valle Crucis - Valle
Country Fair
 The Valle Crucis Country
Fair takes place every
year in October when the
leaves are at peak
coloration. The Valle
Crucis Country Fair is a
festive,
overgrown church bazaar
sponsored by the Holy
Cross Episcopal Church
and takes place in one
of the most picturesque
locations in the High
Country. The fair draws thousands of
people to this historic
area each year. In fact,
last year's Valle
Country Fair drew more
than 10,000 visitors and
supplied monies and
donations to more than 9
area organizations.
Visitors to the Valle
Country Fair can browse
the 135 vendor
booths and purchase
freshly pressed apple
cider, hot out-of-the-kettle apple butter,
homemade jams & jellies,
Brunswick stew, chili,
and barbecue.
Next year's Valle
Country Fair is slated
to take place Oct. 17,
2009 between 9 a.m. and
4 p.m.; parking is $5
per vehicle. Last year's
event benefited
organizations such as
The Children's Council
of Watauga County,
Western Youth Network,
The Hunger & Health
Coalition, W.A.M.Y.
Community Action,
Blazing Saddles, and the
Parent to Parent Family
Support Network. Be sure
to come out and support
High Country community
charities and enjoy the
beautiful fall foliage
that surrounds the Valle
Country Fair each year.
The festival is held just off
Highway 194 near the
Valle Crucis Conference
Center (in the big
pasture across the
